Sound Engineering

Since 2002, Saint Louis has been educating professional technicians for live concerts, recording studios, film and TV editing studios, and audio-video post-production studios. The program holds the distinction of being the first in Italy authorized by the MUR (Italian Ministry of University and Research) for both the Bachelor and Master courses.

FOUNDATION COURSE

The Fundation course establishes the groundwork for your musical career. You will explore acoustic physics, the fundamentals of sound engineering and signal routing, microphones and miking techniques, analog and digital recording, as well as the application of outboard equipment.

Additionally, you will dive into live electronics and electronic music composition, study elements of harmony and creative writing with music software, and the use of the piano as a practical instrument.

Upon completion of the Foundation course, you will gain entry to Bachelor courses in electronic music and sound engineering.

BACHELOR COURSES

Sound Engineering Bachelor courses are recognized by MUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research).

The Bachelor degree in Sound Engineering is tailored to equip individuals aspiring to become sound designers, sound engineers, or programmers for both recording studios and live performances involving analogue and digital systems (Pro Tools HD).

This three-year course encompasses hands-on sessions in recording, mixing, and production, allowing for extensive practice in various techniques such as microphone placement, editing, and post-production.

Furthermore, the course incorporates Avid Pro Tools certifications.

Sound Engineering Master courses are recognized by MUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research).

In the Master course, you can choose between three tracks.

Specialization for Recording Studio Sound Engineer (Mix & Mastering): learn to oversee the entire production process, from miking and recording to mixing and mastering. Through practical recording and mixing sessions, along with the professional utilization of plug-ins and outboard equipment, you will master room acoustics techniques for production purposes.

Specialization for Music Producers (Music Production): Acquire comprehensive skills for managing music projects, covering conception and arrangement to pre-production, executive production, recording, and finally, mixing and mastering. Gain essential techniques for creating products for the recording industry and media.

Specialization for Sound Design & Post Audio Production, deals with contemporary techniques for global multimedia markets. It pays attention to the different industries and related production technologies. It includes disciplines such as audio sampling, nonlinear interactive audio (Wwise), restoration techniques, forensic audio, and sound branding for industries such as cinema, TV, media, advertising, marketing, and video games.

In Rome, they are situated in the Monti district, known for its cafes and live music venues. The Milan branch, located near Bovisa and Isola, is positioned within a creative hub featuring teaching spaces and hosting events.
